Abstract: Treadmill has been healthy and fashionable sports equipment. It enables people to do exercise without going outside and becomes more and more popular. This document aims to introduce motorized treadmill taking 8-bit MCU--SPMC65P2404A as the main control chip, and analyze related information with the combination of market.

1 Introduction
Presently, health has been a focus and the appearance of treadmill caters to people's need. People can exercise at home or in the gymnasium and this way of exercise is becoming more and more popular. Factors deciding the vigorous development of treadmill could be concluded as follows:
-Living standard has been improved;
-More people focus on their health;
-People are more in favour of taking part in various physical exercise, among which the form of using treadmill is very simple;
-It is suitable to exercise at home or in gymnasium and it's very convenient.
The overseas motorized treadmill manufacturing industry started up in the late 1970s. Compared with domestic products of the same kind, the gap is indistinctive except for their design diversification and additional function development. Take steel as an example, quality of the domestic zonal steel manufactured in the BAOSTEEL GROUP CORPORATION and ANSHAN IRON AND STEEL GROUP CORPORATION has reached and exceeded international standard; the matching steel tube quality has reached overseas standard, too. Domestic fittings of motorized vehicles such as motor are ranked in the front row from material to new product design. Therefore, different from the plane and automobile industry, the motorized treadmill has little gap with overseas advanced level, which results in that some internationally famous manufacturers are paying more attention to our products and begin to invite us to produce certain OEM products for them.　　
Although the market prospect is promising, the situation of domestic motorized treadmill is yet treated differently on foreign markets. The main reason for its weak competition on international markets is the lack of famous brand goods effect. What's more, the late start-up compared with foreign enterprises and counterfeit products made by some small enterprises also contribute to its weak competition.
Presently, some international famous brands such as ICON, LIFE FITNESS, PRECOR, BODY and CYBEX all set foot in China market. Some make huge investment to build factories and impose the great pressure on domestic corporations by its high brand reputation. Under such circumstance, to hasten the rising of famous brand of motorized treadmill will be a powerful drive for domestic industry as well as a shortcut for prompting the competition of national brand and domestic products. Under the circumstance of the international competition incandescence, whether the brand strategy could be enforced in time is decisive on whether domestic products could win the international competition.

2 Background of Treadmill
The motorized treadmill had long been a product imported from foreign country before 1996. Most household treadmills were mechanical ones produced by manufactures transformed from bicycle factories. Chinese people are terrified by the high price of the imported motorized treadmill ranging from ten thousand to several ten thousand.
Since the restructuring of international industry in 1993 and later, Korea corporations are transferring their funds to China. Xianghe Group Corporation in Shandong firstly took the advantage of motor and power supply control production in this area and built up their specialized factories in 1994. Combining information both at home and abroad and improving the processing capability, the household motorized treadmill is produced by Xianghe in 1995, in which all the parts are self-produced; and exhibited in China International Sporting Goods Show in Nanchang the next year and is reputed as the first national brand. In that year, the annual production amounts to 7,000 and the volume of sales reaches 5,000, which broke the sales record of domestic motorized treadmill. With the continuous renewal of technology, the production capability had reached ten thousand annually until 2004 and the sales was 48,000 in the same year, which created the total production value 93.6 million RMB and sales income 72 million. Meanwhile, it is granted the ISO9001 and European Union CE authentication and appraised as Shandong famous brand product.
In order to expand the production scale and to utilize resources reasonably, Xianghe successively offered OEM products for some domestic enterprises, which have boosted the domestic share greatly and provided other corporations with samples for further development. Accordingly it drove the whole motorized treadmill industry development.
Presently, corporations producing motorized treadmill are concentrated in Yangtze delta, Shandong byland and Guangzhou and Fujian areas, and the number amounts to more than 50, among which about 15 have taken shape and 50% are joint ventures and solely funded enterprises.
As the continual reducing of Engel coefficient, people are changing their concept of life from the basic necessities into high quality. Motorized treadmill will have top priority when Chinese people are choosing fitness equipment since it has become a fashion to do balance exercise on motorized treadmill. Moreover, viewing from national economy classifications, sports consumption belongs to third industry and keeps rising by 10% continuously and the speed is quickened year by year. The gained share of national economy boosted by sports consumption will inevitably keep increase. This kind of consumption covers a wide range including residents' consumption as well as public consumption (such as fitness club) and rises by more than 20%, among which motorized treadmill exceeds 40% and maintains prosperous development.
Treadmill is common fitness equipment for household and gymnasium and the simplest. And it is the optimum choice for families. The wholesale amount reached 0.46 billion dollars in America in 1993, rising by 15% than in 1992. Experts believe that high-price products will dominate the treadmill market in the future. Low-price products also are well sold and the price is taking on rising trend. Consumers focusing on fashionable life take it for granted that the price should be above 1,000 dollars. All these indicate that treadmill will keep increasing in the future.
Classifications of Treadmill
(1) Motorized treadmill.As a relatively top grade apparatus for household and gymnasium, motorized treadmill can drive people to run or walk in different speeds through motor driving the running belt. Judging from the motion shape, there is no difference between that people run and walk passively on the motorized treadmill, and that on their own initiative on the ground. However, the stretching motion is saved when running or walking on the treadmill. It's right at this point that makes people feel the exercise very easy and comfortable and can run 1/3 more distance than on the ground. Besides, physical power consumption is also more than that of normal walking and running. Furthermore, since the electric assistant device has many functions, users could experience different running circumstance such as flat running, uprising running, hill running and variable speed running depending on different exercise purpose.
(2) Single function treadmill.According to the structure, there are two types: one is the idler wheel type and the other is the flat type. The idler type is very noisy while working and was eliminated. The flat type allows people to initiate exercise like ordinary running. Its electric counter could help users record speed, time, cardiotach, quantity of heat, rhythm and distance, and so on, which are for enabling you to know well about your training and adjust yourself on purpose.
(3)Multifunctional treadmill.Assembled by treadmill, boating utensil, horizontal sports car, relaxation machine, waist revolving machine, a multifunctional treadmill is adored by people for its multifunction and small size. The exercise method is the same as that of common treadmill. But judging from the comfort, convenience and exactness and rationalization of technical motion, multifunction treadmill has some flaws.
(4) New type treadmill. At present, the fully reinforced Nordic Sport issues another new Nordic Sport treadmill. Compared with common ones, this pattern has the following features:
1. The energy consumption is raised by 79%. The machine could make users consume 852～1000 calorie of quantity of heat per hour, the efficiency can be increased by 50%～79% compared with the common ones. And the effect of losing weight is pretty good.
2. Amount of oxygen quantity needed for human body is raised by 53%. Through exercise, the maximum effect of aerobics could be acquired in the shortest time; besides, people can improve the cardiovascular function level, cardiopulmonary output and oxydase activeness and can save much time with the same exercise effect.
3. 65% muscles are exercised. The muscles of human body are above the haunch. Common treadmill usually neglects the exercise of arm muscles, which is made up by this current type with arm exercise equipment. This means that the whole body could get full exercise. Presently, this pattern has acquired its patent in the treadmill design. The arm exercise equipment is very convenient for using. Users only need to wave their arms up and down repeatedly like lift pumps.

3 Market Analysis
Presently, motorized treadmill manufactures are concentrated in Yangtze delta, Shandong byland and Guangdong and Fujian areas and the number amounts to more than 50, among which about 15 have taken shape and 50% are joint ventures and solely funded enterprises. Judging from the industry concentration, the development tendency of three enterprises is the most remarkable: one is the American solely funded enterprise "JOHNSON"; another is a Taiwai joint venture NINGBO KAILISI SPORTS FITNESS CO., LTD; the third one is SHANDONG XIANGHE GROUP CO., LTD. Maintaining the ability of research and development, and program design for motor, power supply, controller and machine processing all by themselves, these three enterprises are the most influential.
Fitness equipment industry appeared in the 1970s in our country. There were only a few factories producing midget fitness equipment such as barbell, dumbbell and pull machine at that time; categories and amounts were limited and the whole industry scale was small. In this period, there was no concept of treadmill in China. Since the late 1980s, large-scale manufacturing enterprises appeared numerously and the categories and amounts of the products increased greatly. The non-motorized treadmill produced domestically began to appear. In 1986, CHANGZHI HEALTH INDUSTRY (origination of ORIENT FITNESS & HEALTH CO., LTD) began to produce non-motorized treadmill. In the late 1990s, as the living standard improved, people had higher requirement of fitness equipment. The motorized treadmills manufactured in developed countries began to enter China market. In 1997, motorized treadmills researched and developed by our national enterprises began to enter the market.
According to the statistics, 171 Chinese enterprises have the ability to produce treadmills. Manufacturing bases have come into being in Shandong, Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Beijing, Hebei, and other provinces. Especially in recent years, the average annual growth rate of treadmills in our country is more than 25%.
According to the data issued by World Sports Goods League, 65% of the world's sports goods on international markets are made in China, hereinto, fitness equipments share 40-50%. The "MADE IN CHINA" proportion is not small, but there are rarely Chinese products independently appearing as national brands. Among the 500 domestic manufacturers, most export the products, earning processing outlay and OEMs (reselling foreign products) outlay. Treadmill export enterprises in Wujiang area are also OEMs with no brand of their own. In the course of economy globalization, the only way for the healthy and sustainable development of domestic sports goods industry is to make our own brands enter foreign market.
Although the output was raised, the price of treadmill made domestically has wide gap with those made overseas. In fact, except for the superiority in diversification of design and additional functions, the technology and materials of overseas treadmills don't have any distinctive advantage. Domestic treadmills have caught up with the world standard from materials to new design as suggested by China Cultural and Educational Sports Goods Association. An obvious example is that some world famous treadmill enterprises are choosing Chinese enterprises as OEMs. Therefore, the greatest disparity between domestic treadmill manufactures and overseas treadmill manufactures is the influence of the brand.
According to the statistics issued by China Cultural and Educational Sports Goods Association, although more than 100 enterprises are producing treadmills, 80% of the current treadmill market share has been monopolized by seven to eight corporations such as QINGDAO IMPULSE GROUP CO., LTD, ORIENT FITNESS & HEALTH CO., LTD. Thus, the first step towards famous brand for treadmills made domestically is to integrate resources once again, and establish several large-scale and competitive corporations to ground for forming name brand. Treadmill has been listed into the evaluation catalog of Chinese famous brands products, which will hasten the appearance of leading brand in this industry.
As the approach of Olympic Games in 2008, Chinese sports goods industry will surely greet a new increase. If this god-given opportunity could be caught, treadmills made in China will stride into brand era.

4 Overall Plan Introduction
The motorized treadmill is using the SPMC65P2404A as the primary controller, which is composed of button module, displaying module, motor driving module, signal detection module.

· Keyboard Circuit
The keyboard circuit is supported for setting parameter, start/pause, emergency stop, speed adjustment.
· Motor
Brush direct current motor is controlled by the full bridge driver; the Hall signal is detected from the motor by the related detector, and transferred to the primary controller for better running of the motor. The current limit and overload protection are provided, too.
